When you enable POS order import, Mintsoft automatically imports in-store Point of Sale orders from Shopify, even when these orders don't include shipping address details. This guide explains how Mintsoft processes these orders from import through to automatic despatch.

The POS order import process

When a customer completes a purchase in your physical store using Shopify POS, Mintsoft handles the order differently from standard online orders. Here's what happens at each stage:

Order import

Important: Please ensure Enable POS Order Import is enabled on the Shopify connector.

Orders from Shopify POS that don't have a shipping or billing address are imported into Mintsoft automatically.

Placeholder address creation

Since POS orders are collected in-store and don't require shipping, Mintsoft creates a placeholder address with the details POS Order - Collected In Store. This ensures the order can be processed within the system.

Courier service assignment

If you've selected a courier service in the Courier Service To Import POS Orders As field, this service is automatically assigned to the POS order.

Automatic despatch

POS orders are automatically marked as despatched with the note Auto Despatched - POS Order (Collected In Store). This happens because these orders have already been collected by the customer at the point of sale.

Error tracking

If there are any issues with automatically despatching a POS order, the error is logged in the Order Errors screen for you to review.
