Scanner Test is a diagnostic tool that helps you verify your barcode scanner is properly configured and working correctly.

Accessing Scanner Test

  1. Tap the menu icon in the top left corner.

  2. Select Scanner Test.

How to Use Scanner Test

Once the Scanner Test screen opens, you'll see:

  • Instructions explaining the test.

  • A text box labelled "Scan Barcode".

To test your scanner:

  1. Scan any barcode using your scanner device.

If your scanner is configured correctly:

  • The scanned barcode appears in the text box.

  • A green tick appears.

If nothing appears when you scan:

  • Your scanner may not be properly configured.

  • See troubleshooting below.

Important Scanner Configuration

Important: Your barcode scanner must be set to "Simulate Keystroke" mode (also called keyboard wedge mode) for it to work with the Access Mintsoft app. This mode makes the scanner act like a keyboard, typing the scanned barcode into the app.

How to configure your scanner:

  1. Refer to your scanner manufacturer's manual.

  2. Look for "Keyboard Wedge," "HID mode," or "Simulate Keystroke" settings.

Note: Some scanners require scanning special configuration barcodes to enable this mode.

What to Expect

Successful test:

  • Scanned barcode appears immediately in the text box.

  • You can scan multiple barcodes to verify consistency.

  • Each scan should display clearly and completely.

Failed test:

  • Nothing appears when you scan.

  • Partial barcodes appear.

  • Random characters appear instead of the barcode.
