Overview
Courier companies may offer a variety of different services, so customers can choose among different options, depending on their budgets and needs. Within Mintsoft you can add in different Courier Service Types.
When to use Courier Service Types
Use Courier Service Types when:
Your sales channels send generic shipping tags that don't account for weight bands or specific destinations
You need to create service-level rules (such as Express, Economy, Next Day) that work across different weight ranges and destinations
You want to map multiple courier services to a single shipping tag from your order source
How Courier Service Types work
Create custom types with names that match your business needs, such as "Express", "Economy", or "International Priority"
Assign these types to orders using Courier Service Mappings
Build selection rules based on these types combined with other criteria
Example scenario
You receive orders tagged as "Express" from your sales channel, but you need to use different courier services depending on weight:
Create a Courier Service Type called "Express"
Set up one rule: Express + 0-2kg = Royal Mail Tracked 24
Set up another rule: Express + 2-30kg = DPD Next Day
Important: The Courier Service Type in your selection rule must match the Courier Service Type on the order. If you create a rule with the type "Express", it will only apply to orders that also have the "Express" type assigned.
