When sending orders internationally, you may encounter issues if the order has a £0 value (For example when creating an exchange as part of an order return, the replacement order will have zero value). This article explains why international orders need itemised values and how to process zero-value shipments abroad.

Why International Orders Need Itemised Values

International orders fulfilled through Mintsoft must have itemised values for two key reasons:

  • Courier API requirements. Some courier APIs won't allow shipment creation without proper item values.

  • Customs processing. Couriers that accept zero values often face complications at customs, which can delay or block your shipment.

This isn't a Mintsoft limitation—it's a requirement from couriers when generating shipments through their APIs.

Important: All international orders processed through Mintsoft require itemised values. Zero-value orders cannot be shipped internationally through the standard process.

How to Send Zero-Value Orders Internationally

If you need to send a complimentary order or gift abroad, follow these steps:

  1. Create the shipment manually through your courier's website or platform.

  2. In Mintsoft, mark the order as despatched.

  3. Add the tracking information manually to the order.

This manual process ensures your order ships successfully whilst bypassing the API value requirement.

Domestic Orders with Zero Value

Domestic orders (within the United Kingdom) can have £0 values and process normally through Mintsoft, as UK carriers and customs don't have the same requirements as international shipments.
