This guide explains how to remove products you no longer need from Mintsoft. You can either delete products permanently or discontinue them to hide them from view whilst preserving historical data.

When should I delete vs discontinue a product?

Use Delete when:

  • You added a product by mistake.

  • The product was never used in any orders or ASNs.

  • You want to completely remove all traces of the product from Mintsoft.

  • You don't need any historical data.

Use Discontinue when:

  • The product has order history that you need to preserve.

  • The product has been received through ASNs.

  • You want to prevent future orders but maintain reporting accuracy.

  • You may want to reactivate the product in the future.

  • The product is integrated with external systems (Shopify, Amazon, etc.).

Delete products

To delete products from Mintsoft that haven't been included in an order or attributed to an ASN:

  1. Go to Products then Overview.

  2. Search for the product you want to delete.

  3. Select the product(s) to delete.

  4. From the bulk actions drop-down, select Delete then Go.

A success message will appear if the product has never been included in an order or attributed to an ASN. If the product has been included in an order or ASN, it will have inventory movement history in your warehouse locations (ProductInLocation records), and you'll need to discontinue it instead to preserve this audit trail.

Important: You can only delete a product if it meets ALL of the following conditions:

  • Has never been allocated to an order.

  • Is not associated with an ASN (Advanced Shipping Notice).

  • Is not part of any product subscriptions.

  • Is not a component in any bundle products.

  • Does not have any associated rework items.

  • If it's a bundle product, none of its component products have allocated or picked items.

Special note for Bundle Products:

  • If a product is used as a component in any bundles, you cannot delete it. You must first remove it from all bundles or delete the parent bundle products.

  • If you're trying to delete a bundle product itself, ensure none of its component products have allocated or picked quantities in any orders.

What data is removed when deleting a product?

When you successfully delete a product, Mintsoft permanently removes the following associated data:

  • Product history records.

  • Bundle relationships (if the product was part of bundles).

  • Alternative product codes.

  • Supplier codes and supplier links.

  • Product category assignments.

  • Courier service defaults.

  • Pricing information.

Important: This action cannot be undone. Consider discontinuing the product instead if you want to preserve historical data.

Discontinue a product

If a product has been included in an order or attributed to an ASN and you no longer need it, you can discontinue it.

Discontinue using bulk actions

  1. Go to Products then Overview.

  2. Search for the product you want to discontinue.

  3. Select the product(s) to discontinue.

  4. From the bulk actions drop-down, select MarkDiscontinue then Go.

Discontinue from product details

  1. Go to Products then Overview.

  2. Search for the product you want to discontinue.

  3. Click Actions then Edit.

  4. Turn on the Discontinued toggle on the General tab.

  5. Click Save.

Tip: To make the product live again, turn off the Discontinued toggle.

Is discontinuing products permanent?

Discontinuing a product isn't permanent and you can reverse it if needed. You can make discontinued products live again by turning off the Discontinued toggle in the product details. When you discontinue a product, Mintsoft automatically creates a product history entry recording this change. This maintains an audit trail showing when and by whom the product was discontinued, which is useful for compliance and reporting purposes.

Hide discontinued products from Products Overview

Once you've discontinued products, you can hide them from view. Go to Products then Overview and toggle off the Show Discont Products filter to hide discontinued products from the list view. You can turn this filter back on at any time to see discontinued products again.

Impact

When you discontinue a product:

  • Stock levels for discontinued products will no longer sync to connected sales channels (Shopify, Amazon, WooCommerce, etc.).

  • You are unable to add or remove stock for the discontinued product.

  • The product remains in Mintsoft for historical reporting.

  • If an external system deletes or discontinues a product on their end, Mintsoft will automatically mark it as discontinued.

Important: If you need to continue selling a product through external channels, do not discontinue it. Instead, adjust your warehouse stock feed rules to control which inventory is available to each channel.
